Gladys Perint Palmer studied fashion design at Central Saint Martin's School of Art in London, under the guidance of illustrator Elizabeth Suter. She continued on to the Parsons School of Design in New York where she focused on fashion illustration and, in the early Eighties, was appointed Fashion Editor of the San Francisco Examiner.



In 1998, The Fashion Book (Phaidon Press) named GPP as one of 500 people of influence in fashion since 1860. In 2007, she was honored to be one of 150 creative forces invited to participate in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s 150th Anniversary Album and corresponding exhibition.

In 2012, GPP’s illustrations were used on banners and in promotional materials for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City for both the Fall 2011 and Spring 2011 seasons. Her editorial work hasappeared in numerous publications including the UK Sunday Times, The New Yorker, and Vogue.



She continues to contribute monthly to Vogue.com. Her advertising clients have included Christian Dior, Versace, and Missoni as well as Neiman-Marcus and the Metropolitan Museum.

In 2004, Fashion People (Assouline), GPP’s first book of drawings and irreverent captions was published and has since sold out. Her second book, Adam & Yves (Firefall Editions), will be published at the end of 2012.

GPP the Executive Director of Fashion at San Francisco's Academy of Art. In honour of her achievements, Mayor Gavin Newsom dedicated May 24th 2006 to be Gladys Perint Palmer day in San Francisco.
